Moonology Oracle Cards: A 44-Card Deck and Guidebook

I’ve always mentioned how thrilled I am when I come across planetary themed oracle/tarot decks. The Moonology Oracle is quickly becoming one of my favorite oracle decks to work with. It’s what lunar dreams are made of.

The deck was created by Yasmin Boland (with artwork by Nyx Rowan) and consists of 44 cards broken up into 4 sections: Moon Phase cards, New Moon cards, Full Moon cards, and a set of specialty cards. There are Full/New Moon cards in all 12 zodiac signs, and the specialty cards include: Void-of-Course, Eclipses (both New and Full) as well as the Moon’s lunar nodes (North and South)

The 8 Moon Phases are as follows:

  • New Moon
  • Waxing Crescent
  • First Quarter
  • Gibbous Moon
  • Full Moon
  • Disseminating Moon
  • Third Quarter Moon
  • Balsamic Moon

Each section can she shuffled individual and can be used as a mini deck or you can use all 44 cards together. I love both methods, and the fact that you can give yourself a reading focusing on individual Moon Phases. The specialty cards serve as my “wild cards” and add nuance to the readings. For example, as I write this, the moon is currently in her waxing gibbous phase. For me, this is the moon’s preparation for the Full Moon. A spread for adjustments and an ideal plan to cultivate ideas would be ideal. I’ve worked with this deck every evening and it is incredibly accurate.

The artwork, By Nyx Rowan, is absolutely beautiful. Alluring, and mysterious, there isn’t one card I don’t like. The card stock is sturdy and holds up to numerous shuffles. The booklet, while small in size, packs a powerful punch at 117 pages. There are in-depth definitions for each card as well numerous spreads (Celtic cross spreads, Full Moon spread, etc.) For those who feel a strong connection to lunar forces this deck is a must have. It’s highly intuitive and a great introduction to the moon from a mythological and spiritual standpoint.
